India's freshwater biodiversity faces a fate no different. Habitat loss, pollution, increased sedimentation caused by deforestation, mining, construction activities, overexploitation, destructive fishing practices and, of late, the introduction of "exotic fish species' (accidentally or intentionally) have slowly begun to destroy our fish diversity.
