Contradictory claims

the quality of Delhi's drinking water has become a controversial issue with officials of different government agencies making varied claims. The Delhi government, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi ( mcd ) and the Delhi Jal Board ( djb ) have different versions about a recent testing of Delhi's drinking water. According to mcd , its officials along with the government and board representatives tested 375 samples of water to ascertain their quality.

As many as 145 samples failed the test, claims municipal commissioner S P Aggarwal. But djb officials say that no water samples were collected jointly by the government agencies. The water board engineer G C Nandwani says: "The corporation seems to have taken the samples from non- djb sources.' The Delhi government has gone a step further. A K Walia, Delhi's health minister, claims that all the samples cleared the test.
