CHARGES DROPPED
The Supreme Court has dropped contempt proceedings against Karnataka chief minister S M Krishna following an apology made by him. Krishna had commented on the height of the Almatti dam despite a court order asking parties to the Krishna water dispute not to approach the media to air their views during its pendency before the court. He said he had spoken about the dam while refuting allegations made by the opposition that his government was not protecting the state's interest in the matter and was going to compromise the dam at a lower height.
