GAS FIND
Huge reserves of gas have been found in the south-western part of Bangladesh, assessed to become the largest ever in the country. According to a Canadian study document released early this month, the finds extend over the known hydrocarbon prospective areas from the east to the west and the south of Bangladesh.
The document stated that "this is the first time since 1970 that gas fields have been discovered in Bangladesh.' According to figures released, the nation has recoverable gas reserves of 10 trillion cu ft at present, comfortable enough to meet the country's demand up to AD 2010
