More mustard
Bio-crigineered mustard varieties which have yielded nearly three times the national average yields have been tested by New Delhi's Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI). Apart from the yields, the varieties have higher tolerance to draught and disease. These and various other technologies were on show at the annual Krishi Vigyan Mela at the TARI campus recently. New wheat varieties are under development which will retain the grainfilling capabilities even at higher temperatures, so that the arcit under the crop cari be increased. The theme of the three-day farmer-scientist interaction was 'evergreen revolu-tion'with the stress on sustainability of green revolution.
