Clearing the air: moving on from carbon trading to real climate solutions
This report has been prepared by Friends of the Earth as part of its campaign for a fair, strong and binding international agreement to tackle climate change. The report is being distributed to decision makers, negotiators, the media and campaigners in advance of the 16th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC ) in Cancun, Mexico in November 2010. The report outlines why carbon trading is not the solution to climate change and sets out some of the real solutions for cutting greenhouse gas emissions and delivering climate finance. It calls on national governments to urgently dedicate time and resources to develop and implement these and other more viable, equitable and effective solutions to the climate crisis.
