POWER PACKAGE
Pakistan's power sector is poised for a big boost with the recent announcement of a US $600 million financial package by the World Bank (WB) to produce electricity from untapped natural gas reserves in the south-west region of the country. Several US, European and Asian companies and banks will be involved in the project. The aim is to install one steam and three gas turbine generators producing up to 586 MW. According to the WB , the project would not displace the Jamali tribals in Baluchistan and will fulfill all environmental requirements.
