Bad oil
A flourishing racket of petrol, diesel and mobile oil adulteration is going on in Delhi, according to reports in the media. According to police sources, most of petrol adulteration is either done through underground hidden tanks in the petrol pumps or while the petrol is in transit in tankers. "The simplest way is stopping the tanker at a discreet spot and mixing the contents with kerosene. When it reaches the petrol pump, the adulterated petrol is passed off as pure, in connivance with the petrol pump employees,' said an officer of the crime branch of the Delhi police. A petrol pump employee said, "Some solvents used for painting purposes are brought to the petrol pump and they are mixed with petrol in right proportions so that the content looks and smells exactly like petrol. A very common solvent used for this purpose found easily in the market is light motor oil.'
