Climate change, disasters and electricity generation
Electricity generation is important for powering economic growth.
However, climate change alters disaster risks for electricity generateon and these considerations have often been overlooked in energy research and policy. This paper aims to explore the links between changing disasters risks due to climate change and their impacts on electricity generation. This paper assesses the vulnerability of various electricity generation options such as fossil fuels, nuclear power, hydropower and renewable energy to changing disaster risks and addresses the implications for energy policy and planning.
