Flashy fleet

A fleet of buses powered by electricity and guided by a satellite navigation system will soon be launched in London. The progress of the 12-seater buses will be monitored using global positioning signal satellites that allow an operator to plan the most efficient route and change the route to suit the passengers' needs. The buses use an electric drive system developed and supplied by Wavedriver, a joint venture between The Technology Partnership, a research organisation, and Power-Gen, a British power generating company. The batteries which run for 80.45 km, can be recharged in less than an hour.
