INDONESIA In a bid to combat air pollution, the Indonesian government has banned the use of leaded petrol in Jakarta and its surrounding areas. "From July 1, 2001, vehicles in Jakarta and surrounding areas will use only unleaded petrol,' said Purnomo Yusgiantoro, the country's mines and energy minister. The government is planning to make the use of unleaded petrol mandatory for the entire country by October 2003.
