Carbon cleansers

A new system to treat the organic pollutants from metal industry wastewater has been developed by the Pera Technology Centre. The process employs a regenerative carbon adsorption system. The carbon adsorbs most of the dissolved organic compounds. The wastewater is preheated and passed through the carbon adsorbents contained in vertical steel columns Superheated steam regenerates the large pores making the synthetic carbon available for reuse. The technology proves to reduce the pollutant load level by as much as 90 per cent. The benefits include reduction in sewage costs and potential reuse of water on site
