Bangkok's residents will have some respite from air pollution. O20, the city's first oxygen bar, offers everyone an opportunity to breathe in fresh air for 20 minutes along with hearing recorded sounds of birds and waterfalls. "Whenever the residents have fever or a headache this can help,' claims Pattaya Luengvarinkul, the marketing consultant of the bar. However, the bar's healing potentials are doubted by many. "Excessively high oxygen levels can cause blindness and also force the heart to pump blood faster,' says Varabhorn Bhumiswasdi, spokesperson for the country's public health ministry.
