CLEAN DELHI
The Supreme Court has asked the Union ministries of petroleum and surface transport to furnish data regarding the supply of lead-free petrol in India and the introduction of catalytic converter in existing motor vehicles. The court was hearing a public interest petition regarding traffic pollution of which it has passed several orders over the past 12 years. However, the judges said they were "distressed to find that the directions have not evoked the necessary response" from the authorities. The judges asked why more and more luxury cars were allowed to be manufactured with diesel as fuel.
