Compensation
The Kanazawa district court in Japan ordered the government to pay about US $6.1 million in compensation to local residents seeking damages over noise from the Air Self-Defence Force (ASDF) Komatsu base in Ishikawa Prefecture. Even though the court rejected the plaintiffs' request for restriction of flights at the base and compensation for any further suffering in the future, it indicated that people living around ASDF bases were not barred from filing a civil suit against the government to demand that the number of flights be restricted.
