Artificial eyes

A camera primarily built to assist golfers study their swing, is helping traffic police cut the number of accidents in Tokyo. Mitsubishi Electric in Japan has developed the camera. The microphone of the camera picks up the sound when a golfer takes his shot. Instantly, the system activates to keep the previous 3.6 seconds of video footage and records for next 3.6 seconds. The whole sequence is saved in a memory chip. Police is now using the device to find the basic causes of accidents at busy junctions. The video camera placed by the side of the road, records events just before and after a car crash (New Scientist , Vol 156, No 2111).
