The Delhi High Court recently upheld the government's decision to transfer some iron ore mines at Bailadila in Madhya Pradesh to Nippon Denro Ispat and dismissed a petition challenging the transfer. A division bench comprising Justice Y K Sabharwal and Justice A K Srivastava in a detailed order said, "It is not possible to accept the contention that the transfer of iron ore deposit is contrary to industrial policy or the guidelines framed by the government for transfer of deposit to private sector. "We found no ground to interfere," the judges said dismissing the public interest litigation filed by B L Wadhera.
