More power

More power a three-year project based on copper intensive technologies would be soon implemented in order to increase energy efficiency in India and China. The un Common Fund for Commodities, the International Copper Association, Copper Development Centre of India and the International Institute for Energy Conservation ( iiec ), a us -based company, have initiated the project. This us $2.5 billion project would target Indian and Chinese markets where there has been a tremendous growth in the demand for energy.

Chuck Tobler of the iiec says that India and China represent the two most important emerging markets in the world. The iiec project will increase availability and affordability of more energy-efficient, cost-effective technologies, like transformers and motors that will capitalise on high conductive properties of copper. While India and China will have greater access to these technologies it will help meet their demand for energy at lower costs to society and the end-user.

According to Russell Sturn of the iiec , "The potential economic and environmental benefits to India of increasing the use of efficiency motors and transformers
