Policy for power generation through new & renewable energy sources in Andaman & Nicobar Islands
This policy for power generation through new & renewable energy sources has been framed by the Electricity Department, A&N Islands. It provides greater thrust on promoting and developing renewable energy technologies and applications.
The Andaman & Nicobar Islands have considerable potential for power generation through New & Renewable Source of Energy which is yet to be harnessed. The Central Government has formulated and declared the National Electricity Policy and Tariff Policy under the provisions at Clause 5.12, Sec 3 of the Electricity Act, 2003. Both the policies provide for measures to undertake the development of power projects through Renewable Energy Sources. This policy is framed in the light of the State Development Report, 2006 for Andaman & Nicobar Islands in order to tap the potential for Renewable Energy in A&N Islands the Electricity Department, A&N Islands has formulated this policy guidelines to provide greater thrust to promote and develop renewable energy technologies and applications.
