Pollution Check
The Supreme Court has directed the government of Andhra Pradesh not to locate new industries in the industrial estates of Patancheru, Bollarum and Jeedimetla in Medak district, The existing units are contributing to a large-scale water contamination in these areas. A division bench comprising justice V Manohar and justice G B Patanaik directed all existing units in these industrial estates to meet pre-treatment standards as prescribed by the Central Pollution Control Board and the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board before transporting their effluents.
