Protecting the marine environment in areas beyond national jurisdiction

Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development (FIELD) has prepared a new guide to “Protecting the marine environment in areas beyond national jurisdiction”. It provides a guide to the legal framework for conservation and management of biodiversity in marine areas beyond national jurisdiction. The guide aims to help facilitate a better understanding of the legal context, policy processes and possible solutions for establishing marine protected areas in areas beyond national jurisdiction, with a particular focus on the creation of a new multilateral agreement under UNCLOS.
