ORDER RESERVED
The Supreme Court (SC) reserved its verdict on whether a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe should be ordered on Rs 4,500-crore Cogentrix power project in Karnataka. The project was cleared by the Karnataka government. Earlier, the Karnataka High Court had directed a CBI probe into awarding of power projects in Karnataka to the US-based Cogentrix company. A group of petitioners had challenged the High Court order. The SC had stayed the High Court order pending hearing of the special leave petition. The court heard arguments by the counsel of the Karnataka government, China Light and Power Corporation, which was commissioned by the Cogentrix to set up power plants.
