RULLING CHANGED

The uk government will appeal against a ruling by the High Court in London that entitles Spanish fisherfolk to claim millions of pounds in compensation for being barred from using the UK's fishing quotas in the '80s. It plans to seek permission from Spain to carry out spot checks on Spanish vessels fishing in British seas who take the catch to Spanish ports. Spain on the other hand, is also considering a further crackdown on illegal fishing by British vessels by outlawing purchases of so-called black fish
