GOVERNMENT CLARIFIES
The Union government has informed the Supreme Court (SC) that it had accepted the recommendations of the two expert committees on the safety, environment and the rehabilitation aspects in respect to the Tehri Dam Hydro-electric Project. The Court was also informed that the dam was safe and there was no need to for 3-D non-linear seismic test. The Court had asked the Union government to file an affidavit indicating the action taken on the reports, in reply to a public interest litigation against construction of the dam.
