ERRONEOUS JUDGEMENT

Months of international dispute may be set at rest with the US Court of International Trade agreeing to resume imports of shrimp from India, Pakistan and China. The US customs service was directed by the court to allow the entry of shipments from these countries with immediate effect. The court ruled that the US law banning shrimp imports from countries using shrimp trawlers without turtle excluder devices was applicable only to trawlers operating in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea and western Atlantic.
