Protective shell
The multinational oil giant Royal Dutch Shell has decided to shelve its plan to explore oil in the Sunderbans of Bangladesh. Sunderbans are an important habitat for the endangered Royal Bengal tigers. "This area should be preserved and we will not disturb it,' said Mark Moody-Stuart, chairperson of Shell. However, Craig Bennett, spokesperson of Friends of Earth, an environmental organisation, said that no promise has been made by Shell to stop the project work in a much bigger wetland area surrounding the Sunderbans.
