The town and its adjoining areas are reeling under severe cold wave conditions.
The minimum temperature, that was remaining above 15 degree Celsius during past several weeks, in the town suddenly came down to below 10 degree Celsius on Friday.

BHAWANIPATNA: Kalahandi is the grip of cold wave with a constant dip in temperature noticed from the beginning of this week. The town recorded 6 degree Celsius today while chill in the interior and hilly regions was reportedly more intense.

SAMBALPUR: Normal life in Sambalpur has been paralysed under the impact of intense cold-wave that has swept across the region where mercury level plunged below normal for the last one week. On Tuesday, the minimum temperature was 8.3 degree C, while it was 7.7 on Wednesday. Thursday saw the lowest temperature of the season in the district at 6.7 degree C while Friday was slightly better off at 7.1. On Sunday, the temperature hovered around 7.6.

BHUBANESWAR: Orissa shivered as the unrelenting cold wave swept large parts of the State with mercury dipping further and further.
While Phulbani recorded 4 degree Celsius, the coldest of the season for the State, there were reports of the hilly Tensa area in Sundargarh district had recorded a near-zero temperature.
