Choco absorbers
Shock absorbers made from chocolate could soon be a reality, according to researchers at Michigan State University, US. If an electric current is applied to a milk chocolate bar, the chocolate immediately becomes a thick gel that acts as the perfect shock absorber. Once the electric current is taken away, the chocolate reverts to its original state. Researchers are looking for other materials able to respond to changes around them. Some liquids form gels within a few hundredths of a second and can be used to make high-speed valves. Ford has already tested a car with smart fluid shock absorbers controlled by a computer.
