Is the army guilty?

the Citizens for Preservation of the Quarries and Lakes Wilderness (cpqlw), a non-government organisation has accused the army of carrying out illegal construction and felling of trees in a section of the Delhi Ridge assigned to it for conducting exercises. The area of the Ridge in question is that surrounded by the National Highway Number 8 in south Delhi. The 1996 masterplan shows it as forest area, which means a total ban on any kind of construction. "It is an unambiguous fact that this section is part of the Ridge. Cutting should be stopped immediately because not a single tree can be cut without the permission of the forest department,' said Vikram Soni of the cpqlw.

According to cpqlw, the section is part of the same Ridge in which all construction had been banned by the Supreme Court judgement of 1996.
