Hard on the teeth

Alaskan health officials are trying to curb sales of soft drinks. They say native children are rotting their teeth by drinking too much of it. The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, which provides free health care to more than 110,000 Alaskan natives, says, it will ask stores in hundreds of Alaskan localities to offer low-sugar drinks instead. The consortium warns that high consumption of soft drinks not only causes tooth decay but can also lead to obesity and diabetes. Soft drinks are available in all Alaskan schools and it is normal for children to drink six to eight cans a day.
