• Air pollution ranks as the fifth largest killer in India. 78 per cent of Indian cities have particulate pollution levels exceeding National Ambient Air Quality standards set by the Government of India; this air is breathed by half the urban population. Lung cancer incidence in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata is very high.
