The Census says: "Female literacy scenario among Sikhs and Jains is very encouraging, as compared to other religions.' These two communities, though, have the lowest child sex ratio, 786 girls per 1,000 boys for Sikhs and 870/1,000 for Jains

Jains have got the highest female literacy rate at 90.6. But female work participation rate is the lowest in this community at 9.2 per cent

Buddhists with a female literacy rate (61.7 per cent) lower than that of Sikhs (63.1 per cent) have a higher child sex ratio (942/1,000) than the Sikhs and Jains

Child sex ratio of Muslims (950/1,000) is better than that of Hindus (925/1,000)

In Punjab, the child sex ratio is lower than 900/1,000 among all religious groups

In Narendra Modi's Gujarat, Muslims fare much better than Hindus almost on all counts. Female literacy of Muslims (63.5 per cent) is better than that among Hindus (56.7 per cent). Overall literacy rate of Muslims (73.5 per cent) is better than that of Hindus (68.3 per cent). Child sex ratio of Muslims is 913/1,000. That of Hindus: 880/1,000
