Centre for Integrated Urban Development (Nepal)
CIUD has created a working platform for multi-disciplinary services. There are four major sections in CIUD: 1. Urban Infrastructure and Environment Section deals with social and physical infrastructures in urban and peri-urban areas. Three major focuses under this section are neighbourhood infrastructures, transportation and traffic management, and disaster management. The environmental part of the section deals with water and sanitation, solid waste management and urban greenery management. 2. Community Development Section deals with organising and mobilisation of communities, awareness and capacity building. This section also augments other sections in advocacy issues. Gender is one of the important aspects that are dealt by this section. 3. Information Systems Section deals with two main areas viz. GIS/CAD based mapping and information management and IT based interventions. Preparation of GIS maps, ICT materials and poverty mapping are some to mention. 4. Research and Documentation Section deals with various researches in urban areas. These include technical as well as social researches. CIUD has established a documentation centre in its premises where information on urban issues can be referred. There is plan for upgrading this unit into Urban Resource Centre in near future
