Drink this admitting that the abandoned Union Carbide plant in Bhopal has polluted the groundwater of nearby areas, the Supreme Court (sc) has directed the Madhya Pradesh (mp) government to immediately start supplying drinking water by tankers to 12 colonies in the plant's vicinity. The directive on May 7, 2004, has come as a major reprieve for some 50,000 people residing around the plant, which still has about 2000 metric tonnes of chemicals lying unattended in its premises (see:
