Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on management of irrigation projects: Government of Maharashtra
Maharashtra is a water stressed State and depends heavily on rainfall and the vagaries of monsoon cause frequent drought in many areas of the State. Irrigation projects are important as they store rainwater for use throughout the year. The Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra deals with construction and management of irrigation projects in the State. Water of the irrigation projects is used for drinking, irrigation and industrial purposes. This report for the year ended 31 March 2013 has been prepared for submission to the Governor under Article 151 of the Constitution. The report contains the results of examination by Audit of ‘Management of Irrigation Projects'. The audit was conducted in conformity with the Auditing Standards issued by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
