Deadline extended
The Supreme Court has extended the deadline for the closure of the hundreds of tanneries operating in Calcutta to December 15. According to the earlier order, the tanneries had to be closed down by September or move out.Justice Suhas Sen and Justice S Saghir Ahmad rejected the West Bengal government's request seeking two years' time to prepare the land where the tanneries had to be shifted.
