Widespread malaise
Jagatram Tundu, a resident of Mecha village near Jadugora, Jharkhand, drowned when the sluice gates of a Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL)-owned barrage was suddenly opened on April 20, 2005. The East Singhbhum district administration ordered an inquiry into the incident. The UCIL is conducting a separate inquiry. It suspects sabotage.
