Tobacco ban Blatant blackmail

Tobacco Ban

The Rajya Sabha's clearance of the tobacco bill has attracted an ad from the industry criticising the ban imposed on the sale of tobacco products near educational institutions.

The notice argues that the ban would create massive unemployment. In a blatant attempt at emotional blackmail the ad complains, "The livelihood of 35 million Indian farmers, tribals, traders and labourers is under threat.'

If the industry is serious about implementing the ban on the sale of tobacco products to minors, why is it worried about not being able to sell cigarettes near schools and colleges?
