Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Thiagavali & Kudikadu Agriculturists’ Land Rights Protection General Welfare Society, Nochikadu, Cuddalore Taluk,Vs. The Secretary, Ministry of Finance,Department of Economic Affairs, New Delhi & Others dated 23/11/2015 regarding thermal power plant near Thiyagavalli and Kudikadu villages by IL&FS Tamil Nadu Power Company Limited at Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu.
The counsel appearing for the applicant has pressed for an interim order due to the reason that the proposed mega project is commenced in an area of 700 acres without even obtaining permission from the Coastal Regulatory Authority and E.C. from the MoEF & C.C, the same should not be allowed. He has submitted that there are large number of trees and some of them have been cut based on the private sale of land effected in favour of the 18th respondent.
