Judgement of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Krishan Kant Singh Vs Haque Tanners, Jajmau, Kanpur & Others dated 10/12/2015 regarding industries especially leather industries/ tanneries which were polluting and were discharging their effluents directly or indirectly into the River Ganga or its tributaries.

By this judgment NGT disposed of 130 Original Applications filed by various industries, in response to the notices issued by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) in terms
of the order of the Tribunal.
 
The CETP at Jajmau is directed to pay sum of Rs. One Lakh as a token environmental compensation for causing pollution and for improper operation and maintenance. The amount
shall be paid to the UPPCB and it shall obtain the consent of the Board within three months from the date of this Judgment.
