Parliament discusses drought, deficit rainfall and farmers welfare
5670 crore approved as compensation to the seven affected states informed the agriculture minister. Uttar Pradesh, the most affected state gets Rs.2801.59 crore.
Responding to questions on unseasonal rainfall and compensation to farmers in the Rajya Sabha, Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture, provided details of financial assistance approved to the affected states. He said that the Government of India has approved Rs.71.534 crore to Himachal Pradesh, Rs. 369.09 crore to Haryana, Rs.791.42 crore to Bihar, Rs.2801.59 crore to Uttar Pradesh, Rs.1447.73 crore to Rajasthan, Rs.105.33 crore to Karnataka and Rs.83.744 crore to Telangana from National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF). The agriculture minister responded to questions on farmers in the Lok Sabha too and informed about the Rs.300 crore relief package to provide diesel and seed Subsidy among others in order to save standing Kharif crops affected due to drought and deficit rainfall.
