Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of M/S New United Brick Field & Others Vs Joydeep Mukherjee & Others dated 29/02/2016 regarding brick fields operating without obtaining consent to operate certificate from the PCB.
NGT imposes a penalty of Rs, 1.00 lakh for those brick fields who obtained consent to operate certificate earlier but after expiry of the validity period, no fresh consent certificate was obtained and the brick fields have been operating without valid consent certificate and Rs. 1.5. lakh those brick fields who had never taken any consent to establish or consent to operate certificate from the PCB and have been continuing to operate their respective brick fields illegally and thereby polluting the environment and degrading the soil of the locality.
