Question raised in Lok Sabha on Restoration of Water Bodies, 28/07/2016. Water Resources Projects are planned, funded, executed and maintained by the State Governments themselves as per their own resources and priority. In order to supplement the efforts of the State Governments, Government of India provides technical and financial assistance to State Governments to encourage sustainable development and efficient management of water resources through various schemes and programmes such as Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP); and scheme of Repair, Renovation and Restoration (RRR) of water bodies etc. Under RRR of Water Bodies scheme, a total of 11865 old water bodies have been revived including 26 water bodies in the State of Rajasthan. The State-wise details are given at Annexure-I. During XII Plan, Proposals for 3739 water bodies have been received from various States for their inclusion under RRR scheme. Out of these, 1354 water bodies for which Detailed Project Report (DPR) have been submitted by the concerned State Government as per the guidelines of the schemes, have been included for funding under this scheme.
