Launched in March 2005, www.carpool.in is an attempt to bring car owners and ride seekers together to solve, albeit in a small manner, the problems of rising fuel prices, traffic congestions, parking problems and air pollution.

A ride seeker has to just fill up an online form giving basic travel details such as route, origin, landmarks and the destination, to become a member and avail of the services. This facility is extended to most of the cities in the country. Once registration is complete, details of potential matches are available to one's specific needs. Customised and premium options are also available on demand. The website also provides information on carpooling etiquettes, advantages and a variety of other resources. Ride seekers can choose from the various categories of carpooling such as carpool with assigned driver, optional carpooling, carpool by employer and carpool programme. Besides, it is also economical.
