Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding prohibition of old diesel/petrol vehicles in Delhi NCR, 28/11/2016
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Vardhaman Kaushik Vs. Union of India & Ors. dated 28/11/2016 regarding prohibition for plying of vehicles diesel older than 10 years and petrol older than 15 years in Delhi NCR to ensure reduction of pollution of ambient air in Delhi resulting from vehicular pollution.
National Green Tribunal directs that vehicles plying on the roads or otherwise found to be polluting should be challaned not only under the Motor Vehicles Act but also under the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and upon orders of National Green Tribunal Act, 2010. Also Environmental Compensation has been identified as Rs. 5,000/- for each violation.
