National strategic review of food security and nutrition: towards zero hunger
A National Strategic Review of Food Security and Nutrition, leading to “Zero Hunger”, was launched in September 2016 to accelerate the pace towards attaining SDG2 by 2030 in Sri Lanka. The Strategic Review was envisaged to make an expansive and inclusive study of the overall food security and nutrition situation in the country and identify key challenges to achieving Zero Hunger, including, gaps in policies and the national response; resources and institutional capacity. Following the study, recommendations were proposed for achieving SDG2 targets through integrated approaches across the economic, social and environment sectors. The National Strategic Review was designed as an analytical, inclusive and multi-stakeholder consultative exercise to provide a comprehensive and detailed understanding of the existing food and nutrition context and challenges in Sri Lanka.
