Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata( in the matter of Tapan Das Vs Director, Directorate of Mines Minerals & Others dated 08/05/2017 regarding e-auction taking place in the district of Paschim Medinipur and Jhargram district in West Bengal. It is alleged that proper procedures are not being followed in accordance with West Bengal Minor Minerals (Concession) Rules, 2016 in respect of e-auction of sand mining at Kanshabati and Subarnarekha rivers.
Counsel for the Applicant (Tapan Das) is directed to specify as to which are the sand mines falling within Paschim Medinipur district and the ones falling within newly
created Jhargram district so that the respective District Magistrates can respond appropriately.
