Question raised in Lok Sabha on Assistance for Drought, 18/07/2017. The Governments of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu declared drought and submitted Memorandum to the Central government for financial assistance during the period 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17. Details of districts declared drought affected by the state governments of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu during the last three years are indicated in Annexure-I. None of the States referred to above reported drought so far in 2017-18. Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) were deputed to Karnataka during 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17, and to Kerala and Tamil Nadu during 2016-17 to carry out assessment of the drought situations in those years and requirement of financial assistance. The quantum of assistance provided to the three drought affected States from National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) on the basis of IMCT reports is at Annexure-II. Statement indicating status of release of central share of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) during 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 to Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu is at Annexure-III.
