Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding running of a ferro alloy manufacturing unit in village Lakhi Happa, Papumpare District, Arunachal Pradesh, 18/07/2017
Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Takam Xavier Vs. Union of India & Others dated 18/07/2017 regarding running of a ferro alloy manufacturing unit in village Lakhi Happa in the district of Papumpare in the State of Arunachal Pradesh without obtaining environmental clearance as required under EIA Notification, 2006. It is also alleged that the unit discharges untreated affluent into rivers Pachin and Kankar which flow in the vicinity of the unit resulting in those being contaminated.
NGT directs the State PCB and the SEIAA, Arunachal Pradesh to inspect the units in question and verify as to whether the allegations contained in the Original Application are correct or not and file a report.
