A new climate of risk: how South African businesses are adapting to climate change
Climate change is a reality for business. The 2016 Global Risk Report identifies global water crises, and a failure to adapt to climate change, as two of the five global risks with the highest impact on the global economy. The scale of climate-related impacts is further supported by CDP Climate Change data, which indicates that around 95% of participating South African companies see risks associated with climate change as highly likely to materialise within the next three years. This report describes a range of examples from profiled companies who are taking important steps to adapt to these climate risks. The NBI has drafted this report to offer industry a glimpse into these emerging practices, including where companies have been successful at integrating adaptation into their management practices.
